China Cultural Center in Sri Lanka Opens New Library
The occasion drew attendees from several organizations, including representatives of the Sri Lanka China Society, the Association for Sri Lanka-China Social and Cultural Cooperation, as well as officials from Sri Lanka’s National Museum and National Library.
During his address, Indrananda Abeysekera, the president of the Association for Sri Lanka-China Social and Cultural Cooperation, emphasized that the establishment of the library signifies that Sri Lankan academics and individuals “who are curious about China” now possess a remarkable new opportunity to methodically delve into the rich and enduring civilization of China.
Ni Lisheng, the director of the China Cultural Center in Sri Lanka, stated that the library will serve not only as “a space for reading,” but also as “a window for cultural exchange,” enabling visitors to deepen their understanding of Chinese heritage and the dynamic progress of contemporary China.
At present, the library houses an impressive collection of 4,500 volumes covering a broad range of subjects such as Chinese history, art, literature, and science and technology.
Furthermore, it features an advanced electronic management system designed to ensure a seamless and efficient reading and borrowing process for its patrons.
